Easter is a very special time for Christ-followers. This is the time we reflect upon the very essence of our faith – the time our Saviour gave Himself for the salvation of our souls.

Jesus willingly gave Himself as the satisfaction of our Father’s requirements, which became the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of the world (John 10:17). So we can repent of our sins, follow His teachings, find grace in His sight, and then ultimately return to our Father’s Kingdom.

No man can fully comprehend the suffering in the garden, the physical trials, and upon the Cross Jesus went through to do this for all mankind. He took upon Himself the sins and sacrificed Himself to pay the price for those sins.

However, death couldn’t hold Him down! He rose again from the dead on the third day after the crucifixion!

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said…” Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

Jesus has risen! No one on the face of this earth could have taken His life. He gave of Himself freely, willingly, and defeated the bonds of death which could not keep Him – HE has risen. Jesus is alive!
Over the next three weeks leading up to Easter Weekend (6-8 April 2012), we are exploring the meaning of Easter and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in a new sermon series, ‘RISEN: The Road to Victory’.

As we celebrate this Easter – rejoicing in Jesus’ life, His teachings, sacrifice, resurrection as well as the promise of His return to receive us into the Father’s Kingdom, let us look within our hearts and reflect what this eternal principle of Jesus’ salvation sacrifice means. Through all He taught, gave and overcame!
