Last Day of Uni!
From the grandeur of the Great Court, to the infamous Holt room where you would inevitably always find members of the pharm crew eating, laughing (and talking a bit too loudly) all are to be mere memories as the Pharmacy class of 2007 head off into the scary realm of ‘working people’…..ARGH!
What a day! With this year’s theme being ‘Mardi Gras’ all are but to wonder what kind of costumes we all rocked up in! A an intensive ‘Photo shoot’ took place with our costumes gracing the great court. Awkward as it was, there was a slight satisfication at the looks of shock, confusion and embarrassment came our way as we walked through the Uni. Interestly enough everyone seemed to assume we were pharmacy students…dunno whether this is a compliment or an insult! Kinda scary for them to know that we are their future pharmacists! eeeek!
From the photoshoot (about a bizzilian of them can be found on Facebook) to the great debate and ending of with food and drinks at the red room it was quite surreal to know that this was officially the last day that we would be pharmacy students; aside from the fact of exams just around the corner.
As cliche as this may sound, it really did feel like yesterday that we were all 1st pharmies (yeh go 1st years!) coming into the big wide world of ‘University’. To come to think of it, Uni has been such an amazing time of personal development, socialising…. oh yeh and education
It’s been a mighty honour to have been bum chums with the best pharm crew in the world and to have come so close through thick and thin of our intense pharmacy degree. Thank God for you all! It’s sad to think it’s all ending but I know we’ll all keep in touch.. right… righhhhht guys????
Just wanna say a massive thanks to all those mega awesome pharmacy friends of mine who have made uni one of the best few years of my life and I look forward to the future we have ahead of us!
Lov you all muchly and Praise God for you!

You are probably surprised that I, of all people, am writing a letter to you. But as the father of the man you helped to murder, I have something very important to say to you: I forgive you. With all my heart, I forgive you. I realize it may be hard for you to believe, but I really do. At your trial, when you showed your sorrow for your part in the events that cost my son his life and asked for my forgiveness, I immediately granted you that forgiving love. I can only hope you believe me and will accept my forgiveness. But that is not all I have to say to you. I want to make you an offer. I want you to become my adopted child. You see, my son who died was my only child, and now I want to share my life with you and leave my riches to you. This may not make sense to you or anyone else, but I believe that you are worth the offer. I have arranged matters so that if you will receive my offer of forgiveness, not only will you be pardoned for your crime, but your death sentence will be dismissed and you will be set free from your imprisonment. You will become my adopted child and heir to all my riches.
Love always Your heavenly Father
“We Are FaMiLy!”
What a weekend! Every Sunday night I get a familiar ‘withdrawal-type’ symptom after spending time with my extended family…..Ablaze! The vibrant, great-looking, fun-loving and most important God-focused young people of Hope Brisbane Christian Church! It was amazing seeing Aaron, Donoz, Li, Paul Ng, Christianne and Natasha welcomed into the family in a good ol’ Aussie backyard BBQ style with the best looking aproned-chefs of the decade! These people are busting at the seams with all the great things God has done in their lives and their commitment to our local church family has inspired me to be even more passionate about being part of Hope Brisbane Christian Church!
Really can’t wait to see all the amazing things God’s got instore for you all and know He’s up there waiting in anticipation to see you live out the great purpose that He’s destined for you! Yay!
Counting down the days til’ next church service…hmmm serious withdrawal symptoms showing tell-tale signs of addiction. Addicted to spending time with my sisters and brothers in Christ…who says you need drugs
Dad - my unsung hero
Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s! We had a special Father’s Day celebration at church today and I was reminded once again of the how precious dad’s are, how under appreciated, overlooked and taken for granted they are!
I thought it was due time to give my dad a special standing ovation for who he is and what he has done throughout my life. I thought I’d start by showing you all a glimpse of the humble beginnings of the massive task in store of fathering ‘lisa hong’…
Little did dad know he would have to put up with my flabby fat rolls as an beast-size, over-fed baby who wasn’t the most pleasant to carry! Not only that, one would think dad would definitely have thought twice about having another daughter if he knew he’d have to put up with my crying, over-toileting habits, smell, noise level, completely accident-prone nature and the list goes on!….hmm… looking at this list not much has changed since my infanthood!
I love dad (aka ‘Baba’) so so much coz he has always put Linna and I first in his decision making whether it be moving house to make it convenient for our education, giving us full support, caring and nurturing us in our time of sickness (I seriously think we got our desires to be health professionals from Dad!) and spending quality family time with us, etc.
Despite not being born male to my parents disappointment, I think I got the privilege to hang out with dad doing some of the ‘bloke-y’ stuff that he would have liked to do if he had a son e.g. fishing trips, sporting activities, watching dad be ‘Mr Fix-it’. Of course to this day I am still corrected by dad with certain mannerisms that I should grow to be more ‘lady-like’ in e.g. dining etiquette, bowel habits…I think you know where this is all going.
To Dad,
Wow dad, looking back I am so thankful that you have always loved Linna and I to the best of your ability and continue to do so! Spending dinner with you tonight in a classic asian style restaurant with loud chatter of 1000 different asian dialects, clanging of bowls and plates, speedy-gonzalez styled waiters, the gourmet chinese food smothered in delicious O.I.L (MMMmmmm seriously!) but best of all… your company dad! To many great years ahead! Praying for you always!
Lov your ‘lil’ girl (not that little anymore)

Contrary to popular belief, I am finally starting up this blog that the beautiful, intelligent, multi-gifted ‘Mei Goh’ has set up for me. Knowing full well that I would not have the intellectual or ‘tech-y’ capacity to know even where or how to start one she’s done all the hard yards for me…Mei, you’re AMAAAAAZing! Thank you so much for being the tech-y-est girl I know!
Anyways, I hope to fill you all in with the major and minor happenings of the world of lisa hong… so if you happen to have a few minutes to spare, drop by and have a read –> mind you, the net and I aren’t the best of mates so I’m not sure how often my posts will be
Also I’d just like to say that those of you who I have the privilege of knowing and being friends with…you are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! So blessed to know you all !
Enjoy!
